SHOUBLUCK
A Physical Comedy Show for Early Childhood
« Shoubluck » is a gestural theatre show created for very young children (ages 2–4) and the adults who accompany them. « Shoubluck » speaks of the power of imagination and of the freedom that life offers us when we dare to step beyond the social and cultural norms of our society — norms that sometimes keep us from flourishing. « Shoubluck » is a show full of humour, moving between sparks of explosive energy and moments of gentleness and wonder. The show grew out of the call for projects "Résidence en arts vivants dans des lieux de la petite enfance," led by the Service cantonal de la culture, the Bureau de l'intégration et de la citoyenneté of the Canton of Geneva and the Ville de Meyrin. The show is the fruit of a pilot residency, the first of its kind in Geneva, which involved welcoming a company directly into early-childhood settings in order to create a show as close as possible to very young children. The artists of La Temeraria first spent two weeks of immersion at the EVE Cité and La Marelle in Meyrin, alongside the children and the educational teams. The creation then took place over three weeks at the EVE Cité, where the show could be tested directly with the youngest children, followed by a final week at the Théâtre Forum Meyrin.
Synopsis Bluck and Shou turn up with their blocks and their joy: the duo want to build their chatuk. Plan in hand, our two protagonists set off, determined to follow the instructions point by point. But with two of them, nothing goes as planned. The pleasure of play and the urge to build mix with disagreements, complicity, irritation… and run up against instructions that leave little room for play and for flourishing. Will our hero and heroine manage to build their chatuk? And what would happen if, instead of following the instructions, they let their imagination and the joy of play take over?
